Up-Regulation of Superoxide Dismutase 2 in 3D Spheroid Formation Promotes Therapeutic Potency of Human Umbilical Cord Blood-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells
The increase in SOD2 in the spheroid form of MSCs is a particularly relevant finding relative to the improvement of therapeutic potency by enhancing cell survival and suppressing the oxidative stress in osteoarthritis.

Cobalt Chloride Enhances the Anti-Inflammatory Potency of Human Umbilical Cord Blood-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells through the ERK-HIF-1α-MicroRNA-146a-Mediated Signaling Pathway
MSC shows therapeutic effects through paracrine secretion or intercellular contact that regulates inflammatory or immune responses. Through the asthma mouse model, this study showed that CoCl2 enhances the anti-inflammatory activity of MSC through the ERK-HIF-1a-miRNA124a pathway, and CoCl2 has better therapeutic efficacy for inflammatory diseases of pretreated MSC.

Intracellular Calcium Determines the Adipogenic Differentiation Potential of Human Umbilical Cord Blood-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells via the Wnt5a/β-Catenin Signaling Pathway
Calcium enhances the ability of cord blood-derived stem cells to differentiate into fat, which is observed through Wnt5a / β-Catenin signaling. Culture conditions to improve stem cell differentiation potency were identified through the above results.

Small hypoxia-primed mesenchymal stem cells attenuate graft-versus-host disease
The superiority of the new process SMUP cells was identified and the efficacy enhancement of the cell therapy products was demonstrated through the GVHD animal model. Basic data for cell therapy products development was obtained through the new process.

Senescence associated MCP-1 secretion is dependent on a decline in BMI1 in human mesenchymal stromal cells.
In the present study, we provide the first evidence supporting the existence of the MCP-1 as a causative contributor to human UCB-MSCs senescence and positive feedback between the intrinsic and extrinsic circuitry of the process. MCP-1 induction is epigenetically regulated by a reduction in BMI1 in senescent UCB-MSC.

Downregulation of Melanoma Cell Adhesion Molecule(MCAM/CD146) Accelerates Cellular Senescence in Human Umbilical Cord Blood-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells.
This study provides strong evidence that CD146 is a novel and useful marker for predicting senescence in human UCB-MSCs, and CD146 can potentially be applied in quality-control assessments of human UCB-MSC-based therapy.

Comparative analysis of human mesenchymal stem cells from bone marrow, adipose tissue, and umbilical cord blood as sources of cell therapy.
Mesenchymal stem cells are isolated and cultured from various sources such as bone marrow, cord blood and fat. This study compared surface antigen expression, differentiation ability, proliferation capacity, clonality, tolerance for aging, and paracrine activity and identified a protein effective to treatment inflammation from cord blood derived mesenchymal stem cell.

Co-transplantation of third-party umbilical cord blood-derived MSCs promotes engraftment in children undergoing unrelated umbilical cord blood transplantation.
This study reports that co-transplantation of Umbilical Cord Blood(UCB)-Mesenchymal Stem Cells(MSCs) in UCB transplanting patient can enhance engraftment of UCBT and decrease Transplantation Related Mortality(TRM).
